Desires Entwined, Book Four
Simon Tyler knows his job as a gay romance author makes his lack of faith in love more than a little ironic, but he's tired of being used for his wallet. When a night out turns into a matchmaking scheme orchestrated by his best friends, Simon's not thrilled, but since he's not the target and he's sworn off happily-ever-after anyway, he goes along with it...until he meets Adrian, the object of their efforts, and finds perhaps he hasn't given up on love after all.
Professor Adrian Keys has tried to date Hearing men before, but being Deaf himself, he's never had any success at making a connection. After his friends con him into going out and Adrian realizes it's all an elaborate plan to set him up, he braces for yet another failure, only to discover there is a spark - except it's not with the man his friends had in mind, but with Simon Tyler instead.
Not all their friends have found a way past their romantic failures, but Simon and Adrian might be on the path to happily-ever-after.
Signs of Desire (Audible Audio Edition) Tempeste O'Riley Jeff Gelder Dreamspinner Press LLC Books
Loved it - can't tell you how much I love it when an author is brave and deals with these tougher issues - Deafness is not an easy thing (and that's for the hearing people!) Adrian and Si are great characters and I would say this is my favorite book of the series (read and listened to it twice). This narrator is good, and the story while it has no earth-shattering crises, is loving, endearing and for me, fascinating. I could easily read another book about these two - written in Tempeste's comfortable, heart-felt way. I like it when there are dual POV's and it's not all sex - I want to know the people and I felt like I left this book knowing Si and Adrian - and their great group of friends.Product details

Signs of Desire (Audible Audio Edition) Tempeste O'Riley Jeff Gelder Dreamspinner Press LLC Books Reviews
Signs of Desire (Desires Entwined #4) by Tempeste O'Riley
3.5 stars
M/M Romance
I was given this book for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.
I really enjoyed this story. I liked that it was not an instant love connection. These stories are a good balance of romantic relationship and friendship. There was both give and take between the two characters and the sex was very hot.
Simon has been burned too many times and he is gun-shy when it comes to trust and developing relationships. He has a horrible family, that I wish had more to do with this story. I felt the situation could have been resolved more. While he is successful in all that he does, his wealth and status seem to be a deterrent for developing meaningful romantic relationship. But, Simon has amazing friends. And, when they set him up with Adrian, sparks not only fly, they catch fire.
Adrian is an amazing man. He is deaf, but that is only a part of what makes him so awesome. I wish that we had more about him in this story - what he does for the community of people he serves. I also wished that we knew more about his mom. She was talked about a lot, but nothing was really resolved in regard to her role and place in Adrian's life.
Overall, this was a sweet story that developed over a good amount of time. It had the previous characters in the story and created an even more awesome look inside this tight knit family. But, this story also left me wanting more development. I felt that O'Riley touched on a lot of things that could have been expounded on, but weren't. So, in the end, while it's a sweet story, I was left with a feeling of, "huh, guess that's it."
Loved it. So sweet.
I do like that Tempeste O'Riley is so inclusive of differing types of people, sexualities and abilities. The execution can leave a lot to be desired, though. I kept losing interest with this story and struggled to finish. There was no real plot line to follow. Too many details were used about exactly what clothes they wore, what food menu they cooked, what color car they had. Also, the business with Simon's sister and family was quite pointless. I guess it was supposed to highlight Simon's insecurities. Simon's character seemed very immature. Adrien's wasn't much better and both were very bland. I was irritated by the capitalizing of the words hearing and deaf. Also, I wanted to see the subject of lip reading handled better. Lip reading is more like trying to catch enough words to extrapolate the meaning of something spoken. It was made to seem too easy. My cousin is deaf and when she was young, lip reading and speaking out loud was stressed as a way to make someone deaf seem more "normal". It can actually make life more difficult for them. There are some people, like Adrien's character that are able to handle it better for. Anyway, I didn't dislike it completely, but it wasn't always an enjoyable read.
This book was the second of its kind i have read. The author did a fairly good job at portraying the hardships of loving the disabled. They struck a good balance between the two concepts. The book focused on the love of the story as well as the disability, so it wasn't about one or the other but how they work together.
I've been a fan of this series since the start but I had a hard time getting Simon and Adrian to connect for me. I just didn't feel the connection. I wanted it to be there so very bad. But I loved the story. I'm really looking forward to the next book in this series.
I love all the books. This one hit very close to home for me. The love and support within the group is how people should be. Great storyline and writing as you expect from Tempeste. Well worth the read
Adrian and Simon's story...beautifully written, I love how she creates these amazing characters that we fall in love with. Both having to overcome their fears and learn to believe in themselves and each other. Surrounded by the love of their friends, we get to visit the guys and see how their lives are going as well. I just can't say enough about the series!!
